Long distance house move...logistics?

Post the area on here may get some advice
Speak to your head whose to say they won't give you a day or two unpaid leave
Speak to the schools in the area and explain the situation
And if all else fails sign up for agency work or Ta/halta work with shorter employment times which may give you short term options.
Build up an contingency fund and go for it.
I would also look at the reasons for the move as you seem to be putting the barriers up rather than looking at solutions.0 -
Does it matter what the OPs personal reasons are for the move?
If you want to get the fullest advice, you need to give the fullest picture.
If, for example, the move is because of a partner's job, that will have a major effect on choosing the are you want to move to, as will a move to be near elderly parents. If moving for a change of scenery - not so much.0 -

The question in the OP was about the logistics of a long distance house move, not where to live.0 -
What is your timescale, and do the half-terms completely coincide? I found that Surrey and Bristol were often different weeks, and I know Berkshire's not always the same as Bristol, and in Feb St Helens was different to Berkshire this year.
When we did it, I took the boys to our 'new' area for as many weekends / half-terms as I could and we did the touristy stuff then, and found the things which were important to them - if there hadn't been a branch of Games Workshop here we'd have had a serious upset on our hands. And we visited a couple of local churches which we already had links with, and that was very useful too.
Secondary schools: start by getting their admissions policies and prospectuses, especially - for the OP - if there are any faith-based schools.Signature removed for peace of mind0
