Missed MBNA payment - disaster!

Options
I have an MBNA transfer for life card. I have had it for about a year and have never missed a payment.
My statements are online and for some reason, my works email address is no longer accepting emails like this. the payment date went completely out of my head as we were moving house and Ive missed the payment by a week. Ive paid it now.
will they definately take the offer from me or is there anything I can say in my defence that will make them reinstate it??

HELP!!

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • Is phone or letter more effective do you think?

Phone and beg, but they'll only reinstate the offer as a matter of good will. You have no right to it.

Laugh if you want BUT if the OP had been sensible and put a dd in place then they would not be facing this problem.

Not everyone is as organised as you and you have to accept it.

Why do people use works emails for personal purposes..
If that email contains things like balance ANYONE in the IT teams could be having a good laugh.

All you can do is call MBNA and explain the situation. Make sure you also update the email to a PERSONAL one.

  • Why the hell would the email contain balance or transactionary info? It never will.

It'll only be an alert to go view the document on the lender's portal.

Sorry but your point is moot.

And why shouldn't they (or we)? It would have avoided this problem, which is reported in these forums relatively frequently, and the risks are relatively small.

The best approach now is to phone up, apologise profusely, point out your previous spotless history, ask for the offer to be re-instated, and ask for the DD to be set up as proof that you are taking steps to avoid the problem recurring in the future.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

In the case of Barclaycard this statement is incorrect. The email notification shows the balance outstanding along with the minimum payment due and the due date for payment.
