Which would indicate that, even allowing for price increases, your consumption has more than doubled. The size of your bill in £'s tells us nothing. I suggest that you compare your actual kWh usage for the two bills in question.
Even with gas CH and DHW, the winter quarter bill is always higher, and presumably you are using electric heating?

The size of the bill in £s is almost meaningless. Is it for the same period? Is it a catch up bill? Are you all elec or elec & gas?

No point in comparing electricity bills, we are all with different suppliers on different tariffs, some have electric heating and some gas, some have electric showers and some gas, some have tiny flats and some huge houses, some are well insulated some poorly.

Look at your own consumption in KWH based on actual not estimated readings. If your usage has changed think about what in your household or lifestyle has altered.

We were expecting a 10,000% increase in our bill, assuming the same period of supply and same consumption during that period.

(See my earlier thread for why ;))

So I switched supplier and we are now expecting a saving in excess of 25% instead

Oddly, today I received a letter from the old supplier which said "It really does make sense to come back to us"

    They went onto say:

We've got some great reasons why you should stay with E.on...

... and what were these great reasons? Well they only appear to have come up with one wich was:
    Planning for the future
Did you know we're developing offshore wind farms - helping to generate clean, renewable energy?

Well, yes, as this is the view we know have to endure compared to what was once a beautiful, unspoilt, coastal view.

Some interesting figures at the bottom of the reverse of the letter showing the source of E.on Energy Solutions Ltd electricity compared to UK average

    Coal - 35.7% (Eon) , 28.9% (UK average)
    Gas - 48.8% (Eon) , 44.2% (UK average)
    Renewable - 6.6% (Eon) , 7.9% (UK average)

    :rotfl:

"Just give us a ring and, in minutes, we'll move you back to E.ON"

    Er... no thanks ;)
