    Been to both .
Turkey much better hotels ( for the same cost) , But Malta is better for touring / history ( more of a confined area !)
13 years old ( boy) will love both .

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've been to both places as well and I preferred Malta - the people are lovely, you don't get hassled, it's beautiful and the food is generally better too.

There is plenty to see there history wise, the towns are beautiful and you can do some great boat trips around the islands as well. Keep in mind that there are no beaches around St Julians/Valletta etc so to swim in the sea there you climb ladders down from the rocks into the water. If you head north along the coast you come to Mellieha Bay which has a lovely sandy beach and is brilliant for swimming....it makes a good day out if you take one of the crazy Maltese buses (which can be a bit of a thrill ride)! Mellieha Bay is usually jellyfish free as well so you don't have to worry too much about getting stung there...the same can't be said for a lot of the island though so watch out if you decide to climb down the ladders into the sea near St Julians and take an afterbite pen or similar with you to treat a sting in case you get one.

If you want to do something extra special then you can swim with dolphins at the marine park....I enjoyed it so much in the morning that when I heard there were spaces on the afternoon session I went again!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Been to both, Malta is a dry, dusty backwards little island with fashion and cars from 20 years ago, mk1 escorts and mullets were the order of the day when we visited , turkey (olliadinez) was amazingly good, lots to do, cheap, very good food and friendly people , our hotel was a bit pants but the staff more than made up for it, I would go back to turkey tomorrow but struggle to see the attraction with Malta

Steer well clear of this place...

I stayed there half board and ended up in hospital with severe food poisoning. The rooms were dire as well.

However, I enjoyed Malta, just not the hotel.

Likewise! But definitely Turkey every time - especially with a 13 year old. Haven't been to Olu Deniz and have friends who weren't that impresse - we have stayed in Turunc (just round the coast from Icmeler) and probably a bit quiet and small for a 13 year old - but we visited Icmeler and it was lovely and much bigger so probably better for you. The Turks are really friendly too - its a myth that you get hassled a lot - and if you do it's light hearted and easy to ignore.

Our only holiday in Malta was nearly 30 years ago (without kids!) - lovely place but no beaches and dry, hot and dusty. Great place if your family are culture vultures...

Not all "trip" reviews are fake -honestly! ;)
