Put your money in a hole in the ground

Its looking like the safest place for your money is not money the bank, but somewhere else, and the safest porven place is a hole in the ground. Every so often we hear of people finding a goldern horde which has been in the ground undiscovered for 100’s of years.

So before you loose your money to the government, get it out in gold and put either under the mattress or a hole in the ground where only you know about it.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Or even better, only keep emergency and floating funds as cash.

Serious savers never have more than 50K in cash (preferably half that), its invested in property, gold, and other investments. Keeping large sums of money in any bank account is daft.

Doesn't that last sentence show the logic here! Only you know it is there hence it is only found hundreds of years later by someone unrelated to you and your relatives have no idea it was there. Maybe that is what some people would want but others would want to pass on their wealth to children or family!

It always surprises me the amounts that are kept as cash deposits due to "security" or "risk" concerns. Personally I feel more secure having money spread across companies growing their businesses than being kept in a bank.

    Yes, SW1A 1AA, London.

And I was being mildly sarcastic.

It is a good laugh but what I find unnerving is the number of posters who are actually taking the jokes and stupidities seriously.

I can imagine scammers will see this as a real opportunity. Invest in a hole in the ground. Best place for your wealth. Guaranteed treasure trove return. And sadly there would be takers :(

With exceptions. I'm looking at saving for a deposit on a first house. I'm not going to bother with investments for now as I'd like to buy somewhere before I would make a reasonable return.

I have much more than that in cash but as well as needing quite a large amount for emergencies (we have 9 properties) I am also waiting to buy another property. I won't just buy any old property, I know what I want and I am waiting for it to become available.

    What do you hide ?
    bank notes ?
A bank note is a debt note, promising the money.
If the currency goes bust or is devalued, you own lots of paper.
The WORLD value of one days labour has been 1/10 of an ounce of silver for over 3000 years.
This has not changed, nor is it likely to change.
Roman soldiers were paid 1/10 of an ounce in value
Workers in 3/4 of the world are paid 1/10 of an ounce in value in 2013.
Countries that pay higher, pay false inflated fiscal values.
Sooner or later we will be back to 1/10 of an ounce per days work.

So by that, we arrive at if you use your fiscal paper money in to precious metals such as Silver or Gold.
You will have a currency that has survived all wars and banking crashes and can be converted in to a world value of, 1/10 per day labour.

Or you can trust in a paper note promising the money.
    Be happy...;)
