Joint account killed my credit rating

Options
Hi

I opened a joint account with my girlfriend a couple of years ago, for paying shared costs, bills, mortgage etc. We have lived together for 10 years.

I didn't realise at the time, but this has damaged my (otherwise solid) credit rating. She has history of debts and this now shows on my credit rating report.

So I'm going to ask the bank to make me the only named account holder. Or maybe it would be better to close this account and open a new one?

Either way, should I then contact the rating agencies to have them review my rating?

Thanks for any tips :)

They can review the facts that are wrong, not the rating. Most lenders have their own system of scoring based on the facts provided by CRAs.
