Hi does anyone know anything about Biggin Hill? As in, is it a nice places to live? Are there some areas nicer than others, also are there any areas best avoided? Just considering it as an area to possibly house hunt but trying to do a bit of groundwork. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry. I had a friend who lives there in Jail Lane which is busy for traffic as it's quite a main "rat run" and therefore quite noisy but I guess it's what you are used to.
During the air show it's noisy and a lot of extra traffic and parking problems but I guess it's just once a year.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

The Air Show stopped a few years ago. The airport is still there.
Practice your hill starts! Some very steep hills indeed in places. Some people live up the top, others down in the valley. Most of the pub are pretty rubbish, lots of bored kids hanging around as well but it's not a bad area, just a dull one.
You're surrounded by countryside all around, some very pretty countryside nearby, the North Downs etc.
Public transport connections a bit limited so not ideal if you work in London.Mortgage May 2012 - £129k
January 2015 - Mortgage down to £114k
Target for 2015 to get down to £105k0 -
I lived there until I got married and my sister still lives there. We lived on the top (in those days Jail Lane wasn't busy). It's changed a lot over the years and I'm not sure what it's like to live there now. It was very quiet then, we wouldn't have lived in the valley though.
I remember the air shows and they weren't that bad lol.0 -
Watch out for the fog too!
The police.uk crime map might help, but don't forget higher rates can sometimes just mean there's a pub there or something.
Girl I used to know in the '90s lived there, so I can't be a huge help! I just remember her saying a few bits about it. There's good and bad, like most places. Is there actually anything there other than houses? I think I remember her saying it was quite cut off. I've driven through it a few times. I think there's a perfect Indian en route... can't remember what it's called, but it's in a modern looking building on a foresty road (maybe with something orange on the front!) and it's very popular! Maybe someone will know what I'm talking about!

Hi - I grew up here and most of my family still do... I wouldn't say there are any bad parts to BH but you tend to pay a bit more of a premium to live 'up the top' as opposed to the valley.
The air show is no longer on and tbh when it was it wasn't too bad - they got a lot better with the traffic management in the later years.
Transport links aren't great - buses only so adds an additional half an hour to your journey if going to London. And it's one of the first places that gets the snow as it's that much higher up and then your lucky to get in or out....0 -

I remember that well. lol When I lived in Biggin Hill there were no secondary schools there and I had to go to Bromley by bus, the buses couldn't get up Westerham Hill. Oh memories, memories.
If we went up to London we had to leave early to get the last bus from Bromley.
I wonder if you know my sister lol.0 -
another vote for the top part of biggin hill, down in the valley is not classed as nice, still not a bad area,a waitrose is there which seems to say not a rough area by far. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0
