  • I don't think either 2007 or 2010 is available "new" any more. You'll be able to pick them up on eBay (be careful - there are a lot of pirates about) but The cheapest (by a looooong way) option is if you have access to the MS Home User Program through your work IT department. Next cheapest is the Student version.

2007 is buggy rubbish - 2010 is an infinitely superior version (and 2013 is a step backwards in my opinion).

    References to back-up this claim?

I use Office 2007 and have no problems with it (other than getting used to the Ribbon bar). I've certainly not noticed any obvious bugs.

Experience of the couple of years I used it before 2010 came out. I prefer to block out Vista/O2007 from memory and go straight to W7/O2010! I certainly wish MS had! ;o)

I'm not one of the anti-MS brigade; I adore 2010. The ribbon is fantastic once you get used to it and Open/LibreOffice feel horribly clunky if you are a ribbon user.

O2007 is perfectly fine, actually, nothing has really changed from 2007 to 2013 apart from appearance. O2007 had no Outlook upgrade though (that was 2010), 2013, up and running, is far superior to 2010 too. You won't be able to buy it now, just second hand.

Also, on pedant mode, there' no such thing as Windows Office ;)

I've never used Vista (other than a play with it on someone else's PC), so can't comment on any Vista/Office 2007 issues. Win7/Office 2007 has been fine. (We have this at work on the standard PC image, and I also have it at home).

Agree with above. Saw no need to upgrade to Office 2010 because 2007 did all that was needed and was stable. Won't think about 2013 until it has been out a while and others have discovered bugs, if any.
  • I am willing to believe it was all Vista's fault and that O2007 is an innocent party but, as is the way of such things, the two are inextricably linked in my mind!
