van not used for 4 months and now will not unlock doors
Hi
A van i am not using at he moment has been sitting idle for a few months and i was expecting the battery to need a charge but i have tried unlocking the doors but they will not open. the van has electronic locks so the light on the key comes on when i press the button on the key.
I know very little of cars and vans so does anyone know what is most likely wrong and how to fix?
Cheers .

Flat battery I would guess, does the key open the door if you try via the lock?0

Might be a stupid question but have you tried putting the key in the lock and opening it manually.0

Some vehicles disable the manual lock if the battery goes flat or is disconnected. The Skoda Octavia is one such vehicle.
Op, if the battery has gone flat & you cannot manually unlock the door, then you will need to get a 'hook' and try to get it around the bonnet release cable. Give it a tug to release the bonnet, then you can use another vehicle to jump-start the van.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks,
I only have the electric key, i have no idea where the manual key is so i can simply unlock it the good old fashioned way - my own fault for being so unorganised!. It is a mercedes benz vito if that helps.
My friend is coming round in a few days to jump start as the battery will surely be dead, on the battery is ok should it then unlock alright?0 -
How will you open the bonnet to charge the battery?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

on the sprinter the manual key is hidden in the electric one and just pulls out (with difficulty) maybe the vito is the same?0

On the mercedes fob there should be a part you detach for the 'old fashioned' key to manually unlock the doors. It is the silver bit with the hoop on it:

Unless you can get in you are not going to be able to unlock the bonnet to get to the battery.0 -
It's in the key ring end of the key. There is a slider - pull that back and the manual key can be pulled lout of the main key.
Duped with KTF.
But that's you answer!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
