Help

A few years ago we got into the situation of the Halifax taking so much each month in charges each month our DD's would be returned. It got to the point where almost our entire income was repeatedly swallowed by bank charges. W repeatedly asked for help from the Halifax with no result. In the end they advised the only way to stop the charges was for us to relocate our wages and DD's. This we did and still the charges increased. We tried to come to a payment arrangement we could afford with the Halifax but all offers were refused. We began getting demands from agents and again after their discussion with the Halifax all offers refused. Finally we did get one of the agents to agree to a payment agreement only to have them call us to say that as the Halifax had instructed another agent to pursue the debt at the same time as them they could not accept payment. We have had so many agents with differing amounts we got completely lost as to who we should speak to. We sent MSE letters re bank charges all were ignored. Finally I have just received court papers. None of this debt is money I have actually spent it is all charges £1836.00. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you:(

If they are taking you to court, you can explain to the judge the financial situation you are in and this will be taken into consideration when deciding upon a repayment plan you can afford :)
