In all honesty, it sounds like you could be doing with sitting down face to face or even on the phone to talk to someone with regards to this. The benefit enquiry line should be able to help you with this.
This is good advice.
You could also try Parkinsons UK 0808 800 0303, who have local advice and support workers. Don't know how good their service is, sorry.0 -
Agree about contacting Parkinsons Uk I've never dealt with them but many large charities like this can be very helpful. Also is there a local Parkinsons Group in your area, I know our local one is very good and supportive to sufferers and families?
One more thing which I don't think has been mentioned are you or your grandmother providing care to your Mum during the night?
Your doing a great job for your Mum and your Nan xThe most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
Thanks again all, sorry for late reply, been on phone/having appointments a lot of the day.
Been some great advice here... and no worries McKneff.
I think we may have it sorted...
Will do what Snowman says.... I'll go on carers and IS... my nan will lose about £31 a week, but she will be able to claim CTB.
Also told my mother about getting ESA also, my mum did say the social worker mentioned something about it before but she is afraid of ATOS and having to go for their assessment (although we are trying to put her at ease... we know what ATOS are like but surely someone who cant stand up on their own cant be declared as fit to work).
I will give parkinsonsUK a call tomorrow too, had a look on their website and they sound really helpful.
Mysterywoman - Thanks for that!! I will look into the group thing and also we do sometimes care for her at night. She has to have this pump thing twice a day because of her breathing, so at night she sometimes has panic attacks or wakes up screaming so we have to attend to her. Its random though, 1 week it could happen 2 or 3 times, then the following week it wont happen at all0
