Mixer tap problem

Have a problem with the kitchen mixer tap. No brand on tap but it is a carron sink (in case that helps)
The black plug type thing that fixes in the end of the spout is not working properly. Water sprays out from the edges.
Have removed this 'plug' and it has worn away at the edges - hence the spray.
It is definitely not a build up of limescale on the holes but a deterioration in the 'plug' edging.
So, does anyone know if this can be replaced and where it can be bought from...... or... do I need a new tap?
Have been to the DIY shop and they say they don't stock them and couldn't help other than suggesting a new tap.
Apologies for the waffly explanation

Before you 'splash' out on a new tap, why not write to see if they stock spares. I have the same problem but need a new tap, similar ones here

Chances are that if you get one with the same width at the threaded part the thread will be the same size if the rest isnt exact and it will fit and do the same job?Signature removed0

Looking at the Carron website I couldn't find my taps.
Unfortunately only lived here a couple of years.
But you gave me an idea to try and find the tap and then contact the suppliers.
Started with the obvious B&Q and then Wickes and lo and behold these are they

so will contact Wickes and see if they do spares.
Thanks so much for giving me the idea. At least with help from the two of you and extensive googling I now know what they are called - Anti splash tap spout insert diffuser (such a pretty name!)0 -
I found a repair kit in Lidls a few months back for about £7 with loads of spare diffusers labelled Powerfix.
Same item is on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerfix-Profi-Tap-Aerator-Set-M22-M24-Use-up-to-50-Less-Water-BNIB-/160988640708?pt=UK_DIY_Materials_Plumbing_MJ&hash=item257babb5c4This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
