Augh Zig, to be honest I think I'd be tempted to keep up the storage to save on hassle - and I know I certainly wouldn't want someone else's clutter in my house, my own is bad enough! :o Birdie's suggestion is brilliant though, would be great to get a garage for cheaper. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I decided to keep the storage. Your point of view definitely made me consider things from the other side. It saves on hassle all round! I just won't get a new phone as soon as I thought - same price really!

    Hi Zig

Hope you don't mind me joining in, I'm another northerner from Bolton (I know not north enough for the rest of you :rotfl:).

I did the opposite to you. I came over from Oz 6 1/2 years ago as I'd broken up with my ex a year or so earlier and had to get out of the rut I was in and actually do something for myself. I met my now husband about 6 months into living here and even though I told him there was only another 6 months left of me being here he won me over. We got married in 2011 and are hoping to try for a mini me this year. Crazily enough my Mum used to say that she wished I could find a nice english man to settle down with, what she didn't want was for me to meet him and stay in the UK for him luckily my family love him.

I completely understand the difference a great OH makes and know why you'd be missing yours but it's not long to go now and you've got Friday to look forward too.

Another one that if you would like a chat I'm available.

    Looking forward to your journey.

    Hi Ali!

Bolton is North enough for me! :p Your story is very similar to mine! Congratulations, I'm so pleased it's all worked out for you :) Don't know how you left Aus though?! Amazing place! So funny that our Mum's both wanted us to meet someone when we went the other side of the world! They obviously know best :) x

So, plans for the next week.

    Friday
Me and OH have the house to ourselves for a few hours, yay! :j

    Sunday
Off out early to Londontown to see Jack Dee! OH won free tickets for the Apollo (plus it's being filmed for dvd!) and we both have railcards so the train was cheap. Will be a lush birthday treat for him.

    Wednesday
OH's birthday - steak and amazing wine night! :D

I need to put my timesheets in with the agency for when I work, then I get paid weekly which is awesome cuz then I can start moving money around. Paying off my Nan is first on the list. I'm hoping to do it in under 8 weeks.

The new job sounds great Zig! Well done! How long is the contract for? Being paid weekly will make a big difference especially at the start! How are you going to attack the nan debt? Save and give her all of it or a bit every week?
Such a shame about your oh driving but at least he didn't fit on the road and have an accident! Hope he gets better soon and is fit-free for ages now!
I know what you mean about first world problems, I have a lot of them all the time but hey, sometimes they mean a lot at the time and sometimes with me it's the final straw which pushes me into crying if you know what I mean? (Like I'm over tired, stressed about work and then I've lost one of my favourite earrings and I cry about it- probably not necessary but hey!) sounds like you have a lovely birthday week planned for the OH!

As much as it begrudges me to say it but I agree Mum's know best. I lived in Western Australia and as amazing as it is when you live there it becomes the norm and you take it for granted. I definitely realise how much I miss it when I go back for holidays but for me it's my family. I've got 2 nieces and a nephew and I've only ever celebrated the eldest niece's birthday as the 2nd eldest was born a few months before I went and the youngest was only 3 years ago so it's quite hard and whenever it's birthday's, christmas or any other 'family' holiday I turn  and rage at everything or cry :rotfl:.

Luckily Skype is very useful and due to unfortunate circumstances my parents were over for New Year which was great.

We're looking at trying to start a family later on in the year and that's when it's going to be toughest for me but I've got very loving in-laws too which helps.

And now that I've divulged practically all about me I hope you're OH had a fantastic birthday and that you both enjoyed Jack Dee. I've tried to watch his stuff but it just doesn't grab me. Not sure if you've heard of Adam Hills but he's an Aussie comedian who does the Last Leg on channel 4 and he's brilliant and we're watching him in October.

Hope that you're in better spirits, that your OH is on the mend and that everything is starting to look up. I think that the weather may also play a big part in your emotional health too as I am seriously craving warmth and sunshine .
