You'd think some sort of warning would come up on the account. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

Well, an engineer came round to replace the meter today and knew as soon as he looked at it that there was a problem. Apparently, the 'b' at the end of the meter reading shouldn't have been there. I'm surprised that none of the people I spoke to on the phone noticed this as I'm sure I read the whole display to them.
So much for the people sat on the other end of the phone claiming there was nothing wrong with the meter.
No to get a refund0 -
Well done. A step in the right direction at least!

Further good news. The letting agent rang me today to say that a new ignition will be fitted on the boiler on Monday.
I think persistence sometimes pays off. Seems to me I made enough phone calls that eventually I got to speak to the right people who were prepared to help.0 -
Well, thought I'd give a final update on what has happened over the past few days.
I rang Atlantic to ask them how to go about making a claim for a refund after being overcharged for gas and had to go through the whole story with them again. It's almost as if they knew nothing about the issue with the meter.
I asked if the meter had been tested for faults and was told that it had been destroyed without being tested. So effectively, all the evidence has been destroyed.
After a few phone calls and me getting quite irate, they did offer some money back but said they were not going to admit that the meter was ever faulty. They added that they were trusting that I had not been lying about only running a gas boiler. It probably wasn't even a third of what it should have been but it was better than nothing and I'd lost the will to pursue it any further at that point.
Anyway, I will now be seeking to switch gas companies because I'm astounded at the level of unhelpfulness (to put it politely) I came across.
I just wish that companies weren't so morally bankrupt and would do the right thing without being asked0 -
Was the meter white, about the size of a house brick with a digital display and a horizontal slot on the bottom right?
Meters are not destroyed..they are recycled and often reused.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

I think the engineer was talking rubish, the flags dont alter the registry and the B flag normaly indicates a battery faultDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
