Dr Martens wont offer me a refund. Can I do anything about this?

Oh the information you have been given is correct.I'll read up on SOGA, but from what you said I may need to accept a credit and wait and see what comes in. What really bothers me is that actually, although Dr M's may have been quite fair (if this is definitely correct) they sold a product which really wasn't fit for purpose. I agree that I shouldn't have bothered buying those boots but's its disappointing none the less.
But of course you don't have to believe anyone on an internet forum.
Start your 'reading up' here...
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/54/section/48C
Where it says (amongst other things)...
Section 48B covers the repair/replace scenario.(3)For the purposes of this Part, if the buyer rescinds the contract, any reimbursement to the buyer may be reduced to take account of the use he has had of the goods since they were delivered to him.0 -
Thanks for the reply MamaMoo. Stuck to the point and actually gave me some useful information.

They are fit for purpose (unless perhaps they're described specifically as walking/hardwearing boots), just perhaps not of satisfactory quality/durable. I say perhaps because certain things may shorten their lifespan. Incorrect storage/care for one. Working in a club when I was younger.....my shoes used to fall apart within a short time because I was constantly bending down/squatting/walking and it was speeding up the natural wear n tear process.
Some footwear is (nowadays anyway) designed for looks only based on that seasons trend rather than actually being used to walk a lot in.
Coincidentally, thats about the time docs started getting expensive....when they became a fashion symbol. While I like nice things, I refuse to buy anything now unless its value for money.
Pandora bracelets for example.....overpriced junk. Costs a lot, isnt worth much. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
