Indeed, don't put that overdraft cash in any fixed term savings accounts, as you may want it back quickly.

But everything I have read about this account in the last 15 minutes says that (as the call centre lady confirmed earlier), I will get to move my current Flexaccount overdraft across to this account and have 'free' money for 12 months.

Can anyone point me towards posts showing 'low risk' investments for £10k? My wife is currently saying Premium Bonds are the answer....
  • Could your wife open 4 more? Either 5% interest, or potentially more free overdraft...

Done. I've kept a screenshot of the reply in case they charge me the fees.

    Fee free isn't interest free.

True but an arranged FlexDirect overdraft costs you nothing for the first 12 months.

Thrugelmir> The overdraft is fee-free for 12 months....or i haven't found the catch yet in any of the posts which says it actually isnt ... so it's free money
  • Does that matter for your purposes...?

If that comment is aimed at Nationwide, your wife has probably had a bad day at some stage. Any cash machine might at times not work, and any outfit will have incompetent employees.

I have several Nationwide FlexDirects, and an ISA, and a FlexPlus, and a Select Credit Card, and a FlexPlus Regular Saver, and they are working like clockwork. I haven't seen anyone on MSE to complain about Nationwide consistently, either.

I've been with them for 26 years ... they can be a bit useless, but admittedly no more than many others! That comment was humour ;)
