Life Insurance with Ulcerative colitis

I've recently had an offer accepted on a house and now getting round to sorting out Insurance including Life insurance for myself and my partner.
I was diagnosed with a mild condition of Ulcerative colitis 20 years ago when I was in my teens. Although uncomfortable initially, it has been stabilised now that save for a few mild flare ups doesn't impact upon my day to day life.
Quite naively until I started to look for life insurance, didn't realise the impact having an existing medical condition would have. Friends have suggested that there may be specialist insurance providers that specialise to people with specific medical conditions more so than the mainstream providers, taking into account stability of the condition.
Does anyone here suffer similar to Colitis know or recommend any such providers? Would it also make more sense (and cheaper?) for my partner to go to a separate provider rather than a joint policy with me?

I'd speak to an IFA who will have access to all the potential providers and who can investigate the options tell you who you have the best chance with, before an application is made.
He will also be able to advise you on the best option - joint or two single plans.
You'll have a decent chance of proper advice on trusts as well. It may be a good idea to write two singles in trust, if you go that route.I am a mortgage broker. You may need a specialist insurer for this but that may not be the case.
There are times where people do have medical conditions, and they can be placed with a mainstream provider. I dont know enough about your condition, but what is the likelyhood of you passing away because of it? If its unlikely then you might not need to worry too much.
As Kingstreet says, if you go and speak to an advisor you will have a better chance of getting this done for you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My colleague is currently working on an application for a client with the same condition. I'll report back to this thread with how it progresses.I am a mortgage broker. Good luck with your search for Life insurance, but I was hoping for something a bit more entertaining from the thread title!0
