B&C insurance for short period

Hello
I own a flat which I have B&C insurance on. I am good at making sure i have the cheapest quote etc etc, but it runs out at the end of the month. I don't want to renew for a whole year as I am selling the flat. I will need to cover the flat insurance wise until the flat is actually transefered to the buyers though - approximately 2-3 months of insurance. (live in Scotland and market moving very fast)
How do I go about insuring the flat for such a short time period without paying through the nose?? Do I just purchase a years worth and get a refund or what???
Plus, Can I still use a cashback site when purchasing my insurance???
any advice very much appreciated - thanks!:T

Will you not be able to move the insurance to your new property? Failing that you will most likely have to pay a cancellation charge.0
