Bank paid out my ISA to my partner, by mistake & without permission.

They are completely separate issues so should be kept that way. There is no relationship between the PPI case and the ISA issue.
Re the PPI surely "Joe" has some record of what he paid if he still has credit card debts? There are far too many speculative claims for PPI that have no basis in reality so he has to find some evidence to prove what he paid them.
We are talking PPI paid for over a decade which I think ended almost 10 years ago: the debt has been moved to other credit cards and accounts.
The bank have accepted that he was mistakenly sold PPI as he was never able to claim it and that he did in-fact pay for PPI. Though as neither of them have records of how much he paid: they offered him less than £200.0 -
she took the wrong passbook.
Even if she did, a passbook has the name of the account holder in it?0 -
There is no passbook involved either, as I said it is a Cash ISA account.
The fact that this is a cash isa would not prevent there being a passbook.
Some building societies still issue passbooks for a variety of accounts.0 -
I agree there was gross negligence to Joe. and he should ask for compensation. but it won't be high i assume. But could be useful. In paying off CCs?
Go ahead and help him write his letter. Gotta be old style with pen and paper or print out and sign
Once you get this sorted with the bank (and do let us know) send your mother and Joe to the Debt free board. Best not to use up your cash ISA on CC debt. As much a poss anyway.0 -
why would people with a bitter long running dispute about PPI, keep their ISAs with the same bank?EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%
some dairy products 42.1% cloths 11.4%

All interesting as pertains the gross negligence of the bank. But not sure it would contribute to the level of compensation.
Would it affect how the bank is held here? They have already comitted offences re the Data Protection act and giving up someone moeny to a third party. Where there would be higher fines/comp would be should this couple have split up.
I have been asked for ID EVERY time I have closed or opened an acct in my name. If they asked for ID it would have been obvious they were looking at the wrong acct.0
