I've moved into this flat and the electricity seems very expensive.

I'm only using a PC, boiling kettle, charging phone and 1 storage heater.

Since last night at this time i've used £2.75.

Does that seem high?

yes it does sound high to me - but storage heaters can run away with your electricity.

PC - about 1-2p per hour at day rates

Boiling a kettle - about 2-3p at day rates (assuming full)

Phone charger - about 1p all day

Storage heater - less than £1.50 (assuming large, 3kW heater, drawing full load for 7 full hours - unlikley)

... but I'm wondering, do you still have gas lighting in your home?
Where do you get the mantles from?

Where have you got this price of £2.75 from?

If from a energy monitor, they're highly inaccurate on small amounts and can only be taken as a guide.

If from a prepayment meter, have you used your own card or the card that was already there? If the card that was already there, it is likely configured to collect debt from the previous resident. You should not use that card and instead contact the supplier to get your own card in your name.

Electricity for heating and hot water is very expensive. So you don't shower, wash dishes or do any laundry? Is the place well insulated?

What is your usage in KWH? Do you have a two rate or economy 7 meter? If so what is the day/ night split in percentage terms?
