My cast iron chimnea hasn't had a decent burn in the last couple of summers. I keep the best wood for burning on the fire in the house but keep a store of off cuts/ old fencing posts etc for the chimnea I never throw wood away and even take the neigbours bits of wood if I see them getting rid:rotfl::rotfl:
I much prefer clay chimineas. Saying that we still managed to literally burn the butt out of our last one.......was a conversation a few weeks back about fires in gardens. We have a grumpy neighbour...ish he's 200 yds away that called us a pair of firebugs :eek::rotfl:

Im in the process of hiding it completely from view with a bit of an enchanted garden.....well that how I like to think of it:) I have windy paths, a hidden seating area and some lovely plants. Still a work in progress....:)
My garden is always a work in progress...except that progress is often slow:)Awaiting a new sig0 -

My clay one hasnt been used since I got the cast iron one. Perhaps because its 3 times as big, and has mesh all the way round, so much more hear (and more smoke too)!

Why is it, there has been nothing on TV all night, as soon as I think of going to bed something that has the potential of being good starts, and does not finish until 4am “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

WE've had an open fire in the house for 14 years and I've not bought any wood yet. Having said that we burn a lot of coke and coal during the winter and top the fire up with logs once we've got a nice hot bed in the grateAwaiting a new sig0
