I've had enough of this weather, so I've just gone online and booked flights for December to Portugal to cheer myself up.
If anyone's interested, there are some real bargains on the Monarch website at the moment if you use their £25 off each return flight code - less than £50 each return for us. What's also good on there is that for an extra £5 pp you can make the flight flexible, so there are no admin charges if you need to change the flights. If you don't use it, they'll send you a voucher for the value to spend on a future flight. :T Excellent ! Flights on there have been released to Feb 2014.
We had 6 nights there last December, and a hire car for the week (Fiat Punto) cost us the princely sum of £21.48. Our lovely new 2 bed villa, with granite worktops etc, cost £28 a night (I lashed out). It's very cheap at that time of the year, and so good to get away from the winter here. I recommend it to you all. :A
Lutzi will look at that - you mentioned a villa there - where was it based....I have booked flights for august and no accommodation booked yet. Usually go posh but this year I want cheap posh rather than expensive posh:Dnever stop doing your best because someone doesn't give you credit0 -
Day off work, had planned to paint my new fencing, but its bitterly cold so played bingo instead.
For Christmas my DD1 and 2 gave me some bird feed - fat filled coconut shell, peanut feeder and suet balls. I've continued putting food out, partly inspired by FK's photos.
Today I have just counted 14 bluetits, 2 robins, 3 huge pigeons, countless sparrows, a starling and a couple of blackbirds, both male and female. For the last few years I've had no birds in the garden, partly because i've got cats, but they are so old now they barely move from their seats in the warm, so its lovely to see the birds again.
Bought a bird table today as well, so now got to assemble it...:hello: The grass is not greener, it just looks that way from a distance :hello:0 -
Well, meet Charlie. He's an oldie at 9 and he's very friendly and has been following me around the house. When you make a fuss of him his tail goes like the clappers. In fact he's adorable.:)
I'm letting him just chill out just now but can't imagine we'll have any bother with him settling. Hi s previous owners sent him with bed, bowls, towels, food, and even a new collar and lead, so he was obviously very much loved.0 -
I have just had a meeting with a financial advisor who was going through an expenditure list.I was asked how much i spend a month on shopping 2 adults and 1 teenager. I told the truth and said i set my budget at £280 but rarley get to that figure and he told me i couldn't be right.. as the national average for 2 adult and 1 child is £600 a month:eek:MAKE £2022 in 2022 no 29 £2022/£434.10

That was the Eden Resort, just outside Albufeira - I can't promise it will be that cheap in August! (EDIT if you go there, go self catering and ignore the all inclusive option, it's not good). There's lots of other nice accommodation around as well though.
But well worth shopping around on trivago, hotelscombined etc as prices all over vary wildly, and remember cashback, Welcome Rewards on hotels.com etc which can all make a big difference.Hope is not a strategy.0 -
Just back from Tesco, wandered around the carpark but the receipts I found didn't have any TCB/quidco on them.
But somebody hadn't wanted their TPP of £1.70 so left it on the floor for me, I was well pleased with that:T
