Help-Cant seeem to launch IE8?

A bit lost by this one and need some help please chaps..

I need to instal IE 6 or above as a website requirement so I'm trying to instal IE8 from Microsofts own website.
It seems to download ok but I get following error message when I try to launch it:

iexplore.exe-illegal System DLL Relocation

I have downloaded all Microsoft updates so this one has got me stumped

Any ideas please?
