Car hire in portugal

Hi, does anyone know of a car hire company who will accept debit cards. It would appear they all want credit cards and i don't have one and don't want one. I understand deposits may be higher, but i'm prepared for that.

Many wont let you at all, as they feel that people who can't get credit can't be trusted with a €15 000 car. I'd try to find a local firm, not one of the big operators. They'll be more likely to accept you.

If you are flying into Faro airport try PAA Car Hire.
They are a bit more flexible the the big names.
I have used them and they are OK and cheaper.

We used Zitauto last year and paid cash.

No credit card or debit card required.

My vote would be for www.luzcar.com at faro airport.

Good prices, book online with no deposit, can pay cash, credit or debit card on arrival.

Also they have no hidden extras like insurance access or fuel deposit. Just leave the car in the same place when you take it back, with the same amount of fuel.

I would also recommend Luzcar, have used them for years. Not the cheapest, but there are many horror stories on Tripadvisor from those who have chosen the cheapest and been stung.

Luzcar again - used them last month on the basis of what I read on this forum. Does what it says on the tin, the easiest and least bureaucratic car hire I've ever done! Can't say €79 for 3 days is expensive!

Not really sure how it all works but they are a 'front end' for https://www.yorcar.com and I believe accept cash on collection.

Have to say I have yet to find a car hire company in the Algarve that I would recommend - they are all equally as bad as each other.
