How much would you expect to pay a plasterer....

I know this is a bit like how long us a piece of string but I have absolutely no idea at all!
Basically I want a room plastering , the room is 80 x 80 inch ... It will have the wall paper off so will be ready to do.
What would you expect to pay?? I've no idea if someone said £50 or £500 if it was a good price lol
Thanks x

Don't know, would guess a hundred or so, but I sure hope you can find a small plasterer!

Do you just want a skim or will they need to remove the old plaster and start again? What sort of condition are the walls in now? What area of the country do you live in?

Your best bet is to get a few quotes from local plasterers and compare them.

My chap normally charges about £90 for a 9-3 day of skimming, if it's a huge area it may be more with materials.

I had a small utility room done a couple of weeks ago for £50. He came round a couple of evenings for an hour at a time.

We're having our smallish 2 bed bungalow done throughout - ceilings and walls - for just over £1k.

I would say around £200 to do walls and ceiling by the time they have got their tools and equipment out which probably takes up quite a bit of time in itself.

There is a board for this kind of thing, you might get some more help. Love the fact you've measured it in inches!

I was just about to say there is a better board for this but I see someone has beat me to it :j

I've had most of my house skimmed as my cats destroyed the awful flock wallpaper for me :D. I reckon I paid around £60- £80 per half day for one plasterer for one not very big wall (but I'm near London so prices are a bit steep) - for the bigger jobs 2 of them worked together - the do tend to start early and finish early - their idea of a 'days' work is very much 'builders time' but they did a great job so no complaints. Can you get someone recommended?

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

I paid £200 for 1 14ft wall and about 4ft of another wall. It was dry lined, plastered I think it took about 1 full day and 2 half days. It was stripped to bare brickwork (I did that at 6 months pregnant! lol)

Where in the Uk do you live? That can affect the price. Influences on the price can include availability of plasterers in your area.

Ask around; is there's anyone locally training as a plasterer? You might be able to reduce the price by offering a later stage trainee the job.
