Hi guys,
My hosting is going to run out soon on go daddy and they are charging a lot to renew so I wanted to run my website from the ipage hosting I also have. Not point paying for more hosting.
I can't see any great reason to move my domains from GD so I just want to point them at my ipage hosting.
I understand about changing the name servers on GD to point to ipage.
However I am not clear as to the easiest way to get my wordpress website up and running on ipage ? Any suggestions ?
I want to run multiple websites from my ipage hosting (I already have a website hosted there). I am familier with FileZilla so could ftp some files to ipage.
I am not clear how to setup the domain forwards to ipage and install wordpress for that domain as it is not currently being used in my other website.

You new hosting will have most likely sent you an email containing the nameservers for your hosting account. (something like NS1.ipages.com, NS2.ipages.com etc..)
In your Godaddy domain control panel you can switch the nameservers to custom ones which will point the domain to your new hosting. This can take 24-48 hours to propagate fully.
Your new hosting should have some kind of control panel which will tell you your FTP details and nameservers if you did not get them emailed over to you.
The process is pretty straight forward once you get going.
With regards to installing wordpress you can FTP the files or some hosting offer a 1-click install with will do it for you.
Hosting I recommend: catalyst2.com/web-hosting/linux (sorry can't post links yet!)
£12 a year, cpanel, easy to use, 1 click installs, UK based and awesome support! The also for a small fee will setup and transfer your whole site over from other hosts!0 -
The quickest, easiest way to physically move a WP site - files, uploads, plugins, databases, everything - is to use a plugin called Duplicator.0
