Yes even on a private plate it will keep the same history.

You've been told by at least two of us to walk away. The car may be a potential death trap and seeing as you can't 100% certify that it is not, WALK AWAY.

Safest and easiest option. Stuff the bargain price for the type of car, it's no bargain to you when you're 6ft under.

I agree with the majority to 'walk away', however, if you choose not to then look carefully at the HPI results. Private plates & HPI checks are not always clear. IF the damage was on another car it will list in a detailed box the car that was damaged, ie, Peugeot 407, or ... whatever with the private plate next to it. I have seen HPI reports with these 'issues'

Also, I would not be happy purchasing a Cat C or D car UNLESS I had pictures showing full damage sustained. One Cat C is anothers Cat D.....

Either way you seem to be determined to buy it despite the advise you have been given.

Get your money back and RUN AWAY....

It wont be long before the police knock on your door and say the cars stolen and the owners want it back.

Or the welds holding the front and back together rust through and it falls in half.

My understanding is that a Cat C will be linked to the original VIN number of the Vehicle
When someone buys a private plate the new reg number replaces the old number on the V5 and the new V5 will show the new private plate number with the VIN number of the original car and will still be marked as a Cat C on the V5 Document

In future its best to do a full HPI on any vehicle and also enter the V5 document information in full on the HPI check before you part with any money

Yea could be but the guy told he didint bought this plate , that it was already on the car when he bought it . So either he knew about it when he was buying it in 2010 or something was done before he bought it . Although he knew that accident was on previous plate so it all looks like very strange . I dont get it honestly still althought i check it all the time but cant make the purchase with all you guys wrote anyway.

When i checked service history in the book i think in time he bought it so about 2010 there was like Vin number white-out and rewritten again in place where they give stamps from service shops, wich looked very suspicious becuse till then all history came from mercedes shops and since then none was there.

If you yourself think it looks suspicious then walk away. Don't buy the car it'll be trouble down the line.
