Hire Car Insurance - Canada

Hi,
Heading for Canada in July and would like to hire a car/suv. Most of the sites are showing prices which would suggest that insurance is not included and we would need to purchase it at an additional cost..
Does anyone know what insurance is normally included, would we need to purcahse additional cover, e.g. Damage Waiver or Personal Accident Insurance ?
Any advice appreciated.
