Shares v Credit Card

Hi,

I have some shares in Standard Life that are worth nearly £1k now - which would put a good dent in my credit card bill.

Should I sell my shares or not??

Thoughts would be gratefully received!

Thanks!
Stephanie

How much interest are you expecting to pay over a year on that £1k if you didn't pay off your credit card?

How much profit (dividends plus capital growth) do you expect to receive (after tax) in your £1k worth of standard life shares for 12 months from now.

In general terms no-should even think about saving or investing if they have unsecured borrowings at standard interest rates. The average returns on the savings or investments will never be enough to outweigh the interest charges on the borrowings.
