That's the downside to most of my items qualifying as Large Letter - Royal Mail Tracked would increase my postage costs too much :(

Indeed. My items are £99 upwards retail, which covers me for wholesale prices, so well worth the cost. But it doesn't suit many businesses.

We process higher value orders as we wholesale as well now, but they all go via Special Delivery or courier. I just don't quite send enough yet to qualify for RM Tracked. They told me you have to send a certain volume and they do check. Not sure how true that is though.

Incidentally, how do RM justify no compensation for business users? How is the business supposed to operate if it has no recourse against the courier for losing the item in transit?!

nobody is forced to accept it
its a trade off for lower postage costs

Given the software running with Tracked,I would expect it to be very easy to check the numbers on any account

I figured that but they also said the same when I first started using PacketPost. I didn't hit the 5000 volume required in the first 12 months but never lost it.

    packetpost is changing too ;)
They are bringing a barcode system for the packetpost returns service,no doubt it will filter to most/all services in the end
however Tracked is a new type of service. designed from the ground up to be integrated with the computer systems etc

I know it's being replaced by the new RM 24/48 and they're making it easier to qualify at only 1000 items a year (grrr!). Wouldn't mind if they relaxed the volumes to qualify for Tracked too.

I would quit sending stuff recorded to be honest, it can give some buyers a reason to claim inr if they know that the tracking hasn't changed.

I assume you're referring to the case with the expensive bag? I know They received the claim form because they replied to me saying that they were looking into it.
Then I heard nothing for over a month so I phoned them up, and was told by the rep that I would get my money back soon.
Heard nothing until 2 weeks later when I recieved another letter saying the opposite of what the rep on the phone told me.

The letter basically said: ''non-recipient hasn't replied to us, so we have to assume that they recieved the parcel - case closed''

I've since complained again and written to them again and am waiting for a reply.
It was sent recorded and their own website doesn't show it as delivered, so how can they assume that it is

    Update on the BAG:
I just got a cheque from the Royal Mail for £52 :)
That's more than I claimed for, lol.

I guess my letter to them worked, as they previously stated that they considered the case closed.

Now to see if I get anything back for the electric toothbrush (which was what this thread was about before I I went off track).
