Was going to use the self scan machine tomorrow for first time as hate runnning the gauntlet of the SAs - but reading this post...does the scanner always bleep for authorisation? That would rather defeat the object of my self scanning my stuff!

I can not figure the self scanners out, there seems to be no pattern as to when they ask for autorisation,i done 2 similar shops yest and first time after 3 ski copouns it beeped but on 2nd transactio it did not happen so who knows??most times the sa just approves it,they do not seem that bothered. I always use the self scan because like you i dont fancy my chances with sa.

you'll be fine a070.gif I'm such a huge coupon coward but I've no worries at all with self scan when it beebs just smile at the person supervising and ask for autherisation for your coupons they generally do this without batting an eyelid .... and those that are staring are only wondering how you're getting such good savings a080.gif

I have had the opposite on self scanners, the SA looking after them has noticed a higher value voucher being used and promptly taken it out of the coupon box when it beeped for authorisation and returned it to me.

I would much rather go to a young male SA and have a chat whilst charming him with my wit ! LOL

I have just had a chinese meal delivered as now I do not have a kitchen, worktops, washing machine or any cupboard space. Still I had a freebie bottle of wine delivered with my meal so not all bad.

this is exactly what I do too d015.gif had one bad experience one new years eve in Asda and that put me off for life c075.gif there were huge Q's and she held everything up by making a show of me and calling to other cashiers - and I was only trying to use 2x£2 on a large shop e015.gif

I've tried the daily mail book token 3 times now -
    1st time - sucess - 20 something female ast.
2nd time - failure - young male ast said 'you can't use them in here'.
3rd time - failure self scan - beady eyed ast said the same as the young male.

I can't cope with trying again - YET!

sometimes JJ7 I swear that my Daily Mail vouchers are actually on elastic ! and that once handed over they magically bounce back to my handbag after getting refused.

I have a few refusals but eventually they will be used - sometimes I use 2 in one go - keep with it though because someone will accept them.
