Hiya Old-Bag - seen as you mentioned it, here are some photos, the extension is bigger than the existing house. Work started 13th Nov and is still on-going hence my signature and frustration .......... due to all the boxes etc. I cannot seem to remember a time when the builders weren't here ! or what colour my carpet is in my dining room due to all the boxes/things stored in it.

Hope no-one minds here are 2 piccies: front view and back view

    Picture146.jpg

    Picture152.jpg

As for MSE savings etc for the extension I have had:

28 kitchen cabinets, worktops and a free dishwasher, a gas range cooker worth over £1,000, 4 double pine wardrobes, 4 pine chest of drawers, 4 pine bedside cabinets, a set of pine bunk beds with 2 mattresses, a shaker style single bed, a victorian kingsize metal bedstead, king size mattress, a white bathroom suite (toilet, steel bath, sink), victorian high level WC, victorian pedestal, shower cubicle, shower base, single white WC (for downstairs cloakroom), and 2 free powershowers,

This was nearly all free using tesco/MFI deal vouchers which unfortunately has now closed - all in we only handed over £450 cash. Doing it this way the fitting out of the extension has come under budget.

Using vouchers and collecting up the points can be very worthwhile. This quarter I have exceed 30,000 points which will mean £1200 towards a much needed holiday ! and I have saved a considerable amount in the last few years.

As I type my old kitchen walls are being demolished and RSJ's fitted. I am glad I managed to pop out earlier and get my Daily Mails - it is nice to be able to use a higher value voucher - and not to hand over a wad of 20ps and 50p vouchers.

    Welshy x

PS Just had a phone call (at last) dishwasher is arriving in 3 weeks time on 1st June.

    Thanks Welshy.
I had a big house extension some years ago. Hell whilst going thru it, but once finished.......wondered why we never did it years earlier

This was also YEARS before I became an official mse.....so we actually PAID  for everything with ........MONEY:eek:

Oh well, I am making up for my ignorance now......must pop out and grab some Mails before they are sold out :D

I collect Tesco points, but was a bit limited whilst doing R&R, still haven't got into the hang of handing over my card.......note to self to try harder now that R&R finished.......at least that is one mse perk I was around to enjoy. Something to tell the grandchildren about, the good old days when you got FREE goods if Tesco made a mistake and overcharged you by 1p:D
They probably won't believe it !!
    I probably wouldn't if I hadn't actually done it myself for a year !

Keep us updated Welshy, and when will be the House-extension warminng party ? Must give us a list of things you still need, so we can all use our mse brains to get them as cheap as possible - or preferably free, or paid to take it out of the store :D

Book tokens are in the Daily Mail twice per month, usually on a Fri and Sat. They are usually valid till the end of the month.

    Zippy x

Does that mean tomorrow as well then?

I have just done something to cheer myself up no-end I have booked myself into 2 hotels for mystery shopping in the next coming weeks and a family activity mystery shop too - the kiddies will be soooo excited about that one.

To be away from the mess, rubble and chaos will be bliss ! and maybe on the way to the hotels I will discover a new tescos that I haven't been too LOL

Ok back from corner shop - could not face Tesco again today and like to support the local shop. Brought 6 copies, coupon a bit fuzzy like mentioned above. Do you all use just one per transaction?

    Hi,

Yes, I have just tried it at the self scan in our local TMetro. I am in the South East too. I agree, it does look very dodgy but it scanned fine. Once I had put the coupon into the little slot it started beeping for authorisation but when the Supervisor arrived she didn't know what the coupon was for and just authorised it. She did, however, look at me and say "another coupon authorisation??":o :o . Mmm, think I had better slow down on the old coupon use. Sigh.

Was going to use the self scan machine tomorrow for first time as hate runnning the gauntlet of the SAs - but reading this post...does the scanner always bleep for authorisation? That would rather defeat the object of my self scanning my stuff!

it lets u scan coupon asks u to put it in the slot then beeps for authorisation, so by then they aren't going to refuse.
    go on be brave:j
