Hubby applied for disabled facilities grant in December 12 we need downstairs bedroom and wet room I have spent the last 3 weeks running round to find out whats going on as no one has kept us informed firstly spoke to our housing association who told us that they will not agree to extension as too costly so wanted to take over half my front room (only have 1 lounge) that has now been shelved as 6 of us live in a 3 bed roomed house and that wont leave enough space for front room so now council saying they will cancel grant and try and find us a larger property I need 5 bed roomed none in my area I rang and checked so what i am asking is what do i do now

If on review they decide you are entitled, they, both the local authority and the Housing Association will look for a swap or alternative 5 bed room house elsewhere - anywhere in the United Kingdom. You will then join the ranks of others who are deemed to have an entitlement to this and points based 'bidding' systems exist and have existed for many years.

You need to recognise that others are desperate for the very scarce 'grant aid funding' on an immediate basis and its right that as you can not access that funding it should immediately go to another deserving application who like you have a need, but that can get immediate access for the work to be [this years budget allocation] started.

Where you are offered a move to in your own area or UK-wide and when that offer appears, is down to the vagaries of a market that was always minuscule and dwindling. Best of luck shopaholic, you might just get lucky with the 'bedroom tax forcing people from their homes'.
