I've just found out I have a defuat notice and I am appauled at the six it take for it to come off. The balance is nil and has been for some time....... so I had no job and benefits pay is barely enought to pay your tv license and your water bill never mind your loans and your credit cards, bugsybrowne I guess you've never been short of a few quid to make sure you've got enought money to feed the kids!
Why do the FSA think six years of credit hell is a responsable time for a person because they lost there job or become ill and can't work and the company you have your loans or credit card with simple is not willing to help only pass you on to an agancy for collection?
Surely there is something out there to help the people that have tried and clear there debts?0 -

So you had loans and credit card debts, you lost your job and got defaulted because you couldn't pay them back. You now have and the balances are paid off.
Why are you then so keen to get back into debt and complaining because you can't, due to the default noted on your credit files?
Isn't the six years that the default will show for a good amount of time to get used to living without lots of debt?0 -
I'm trying to get Argos to remove my default as I never even received notice of it as my ex used my Argos card, they are currently looking into it for me.
Report him/her to the police, get them prosecuted for theft/fraud. Claim the money back from Argos.
Jobs a good un and no default notice.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Information as to the default is available for 6 years. It is just "information". It is not a direct bar to obtaining credit or "punishment".
It is up to new lenders as to whether they take this into account when lending. They can also take into account anything else you tell them - eg increased income, borrowings repaid, other changed circumstances. Most will take defaults into account. Why shouldn't they? It's their money they are lending. Why shouldn't they have access to information that is accurate and weigh it according to their own criteria?
In my case, I have never defaulted. I want lenders to know this. Currently they can only know that I haven't defaulted for 6 years which is probably good enough. If you could remove defaults sooner, then lenders could be more reluctant to lend to people like me because they wouldn't know if I had defaulted recently.0 -
You can put a notice of correction on your credit report, that creditors have to read, briefly explaining your circumstances and financial situation at the time. Just google 'Notice of Correction'0

Can't see how putting a notice of correction on your account beside a Default is going to help you in anyway at the end of the day you've failed to pay back what you borrowed whether you were in financial stress at the time or not.
Underwriters will normally see straight through these as I'm sure everyone who has messed up with debts have tries this with little success.0 -
Regarding mortgages , some lenders will consider depending on the value and date it was registered.
Why don't you check out those assuming you won't get it removed ?
At least it's six years , some credit issues stay with you for ever .0 -
Yes self control and lessons learned.
Harsh but it worked for me.
Cards built up and balance increased, Thoughy nothing of it as i could always make minimum payments and more.
But the balance would go up and down like a yoyo. Then suddenly no money to pay the bills. OH Dear or words to that effect.
I made very low offers and they had the choice of take it or i use the money for bankruptcy.
No more cards or debt for me now.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
