Hopefully someone can help. When my friend got her first PC delivered at the weekend an Engineer installed all the software, settings, etc for her as she is new to this and doesn't really know anything about them.
All seemed well at first but now there is an intermittent "problem". She asked if I could help but I don't have a clue. Sometimes when a menu, dialogue box, programme installation box has closed down or minimsed she is left with a line, shadow or blank box in the place where the original box has been. (Hope that makes sense)
If we open anything else, i.e. Word, Internet Explorer, etc. the shadow/box/line stays there and you can't see the Word document, etc properly. The blank bit/shadow only goes away if you shut down and restart the computer.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it.

Fix = Ring the engineer back up, tell him to do his job right!
Sounds like a bad install of Windows. If its been happening from day 1 on a new computer the engineer needs to fix it.0 -
It could be caused by:
- A corrupted Windows installation
- Faulty monitor
- Faulty or partially seated video card
- Incorrect, corrupted or out-of-date video card/monitor driver
- Wrong monitor refresh rate setting (You can view this by Opening Control Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced | Monitor).
If it's a new PC, then I'd go back to the engineer and get him to fix it.Please call me 'Kazza'.0
