Free prescriptions for 60 year old

    I'm 58 at present & will get my free prescriptions/eye tests at 60 but I have to wait until I am 66 to get pension & bus pass .When I started putting money away when working the retirement age for women was 60 Grrrr who keeps moving the goal posts.

    But the government finds the money for Welfare payments for people that have never put money into the system.

    That particular change was announced almost 20 years ago.

    I'm not 100% sure of the dates they were introduced but the introduction of bus passes for pensioners (and winter fuel payments) were almost certainly after you 'started putting money away', so the goalposts can be moved closer as well as further away....

    Concessionary bus fares for pensioners have continuously existed since the end of WW2.
