US plug, adaptor, or transformer needed?

Mum has bought something from China, with what seems to be an American plug on it, 2 long flat pins.
Adaptor says:
Input:I AC100-240V 50/60Hz 0.3A
Output: DC12V 2000mh
Am I right in thinking because the input says to 240v we can just get a US to UK plug adaptor (like the ones we use to take our stuff overseas, but reversed)
Or does she need to buy a transformer, which has been told to her by "someone in the know" who happens to be able to sell her one
Ideally looking to replace the adaptor with a UK version, or multiple adaptor eventually, but this would get her going quickly for now.

I would be tempted to go for something like this :-

I have few American electrical items and I have to use a voltage converter with them. Got mine on Amazon for less than £10.0
-
Input:I AC100-240V 50/60Hz 0.3A
Input voltage can be anything between 100 & 240 and the device will automatically adjust
This allows it to be used in the UK with a suitable adaptor.0 -
Great thanks! That'll make her day to know it's cheap to fix, not dear ^_^0

What Ich said. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

If you can wire a plug just cut the US one off and replace it with a proper fused UK one. No need to carry the adaptor around with you.0

Unless it's a wallcube type power supply, do what Stooby said.
If buying an adaptor, bear in mind that it (probably) wont be a US adaptor you will need but a Chinese one. US plugs have two vertical pins (i.e. | | ) Chinese ones have the pins at an angle (i.e. \ / )

If you use an adaptor make sure it's fused - preferably 3A. When it develops a fault, you'll be glad it's only a maximum 3A flowing not 30A.0

Yeah we're just trying to find a simple multi use replacement adaptor atm that we can buy in a store to avoid the adaptor on it.0
