Hi, Just looking for some advice really, Santander are holding a debt against my self and my partner dating back from 2007 we have been in contact with them via the CAB about three years ago but they couldn't tell us what the debt was for, nor prove what it was for. Myself and my partner both had current accounts with the Abbey (as they were then) but cannot think what the debt could possibly be for. Any advice on what to do, as it is affecting both our credit, Thanks.

Do you mean that your credit history with equifax or experian is showing a default from Santander? If so then write to Equifax/Experian and challenge the entry. They should then contact Santander and if they can't justify it, it should be removed.
If that doesn't work write a formal letter of complaint to Santander and if you don't get a satisfactory conclusion raise a complaint with the FOS.0
