In this case I suggest you actually look at the web site, and find out about the scheme before you form an opinion. It looks to be the same as the Trading Standards Buy With Confidence scheme, which is not the same as CheckABodger, RatedBodgers and MyHammer (in the hands of a bodger).

I see what you mean, paying £10 just for a lead is not good. When I paid for a new boiler, only half the cost was materials, the rest was labour, so I suppose it depends on the value of the job whether or not the scheme is worth it for you.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
This company no rogue traders here is a ripoff all there interested is making money, they charge the the traders £300 plus vat every year to stay on the books then £10 plus vat for the lead and when you get the job the trader has to pay 2% plus vat of the total job value again total ripoff all there interested in is making money. They will always try and get the traders to drop there price but they always want there money and will take it. Your best thing is to ask family and friends when looking for a trader..0

All sites of this nature are a menace
I admit to being useless at any form of DIY, it'd cost more to rectify my "attempts"wish I could find a retired "Odd job man" to do some touches up around the home.
Handyman who advertise on the net don't come cheap neither
Opps, forgot to mention, I'm in the Birmingham areaI'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0 -

My late mother got a good builder via Help The Aged. They had an approved list. Not cheap, but good.
As an aside, you could always learn to do odd jobs, all you need is average intelligence and the ability to think things through before hand, oh, and experiment on something unimportant.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Any further updates on NRTH? I recently used them and they made a comnplete mess of the job. They refused to put it right and after I got Trading Standards involved they just wanted to give me my money back and walk away.0

I'm very glad to have read this thread. I'm looking to have new double glazing and was about to pay £800 more for a company simply because they were part of No Rouge Traders Here !
I thought that they were the safest option because they were trading standards rather than something like checkatrade.
Surely there is someway of avoiding getting ripped off ? Approx £4000 is a huge amount of money to spend and I'm really scared of making the wrong decision.0 -
I used NRTH last year and the work I had done was far from proffesional , and there was endless problems ! I would never use again0

How did you resolve the issue Lillyjacks? Did they offer you a refund and then run away too?0
