I applied for access to work support 2 years ago when I moved jobs and they took so long that I was already installed in the work place and emergency support had to be put in place. It was hellish.
A year ago I was reassessed for returning to work post transplant and it was the same nightmare all over again! It dragged on so long that some members are asking how it is 12 months down the line.
This year I had to leave my old job and found a new one that I start soon, today a man from the access to work OSU called and my whole application was done in minutes, I just need to call back tomorrow to work out my contribution!
The difference? This time I asked for the paper application and wrote meticulous notes on my conditions, gave a full list of my duties, a list of what I want in place, reasons for all of the "wants" and a statement from my GP with their ideas on how they'd want me to return to work.
My advice is if you ever want access to work find the paper form and apply that way because applying by phone is messy, time consuming and leaves too many areas where things can go wrong.
