For a start why not get a different PAYG sim? Even with a cheapo unlocked/right network phone off ebay you should save money in 2 or 3 weeks.

If your 'insurance' payments take you below minimum wage I believe that is illegal.

Also if you can demonstrate they are favouring people from their home country you could try to get them into trouble over racism.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

For example with Tesco sim-only you can either have 750 free minutes a month (that's 25 mins per day) for only £15 per month or 1500 free minutes for £20 per month. Tesco uses o2 network so I think that would mean an o2 simlocked phone would work with a Tesco sim. Someone else will correct me if I'm wrong on that!
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

No, that's not the case at all and the mixture of pakistani, bulgarian, majority are a great bunch, they just say its the best job they've had.

Yes, my own car. I did this job for a different company where I had to get my own business insurance alongside my own car insurance. The extra cost - £14 for the whole year.
I have a quote from my own insurance company for 12months business insurance for £28 for for 12 months. I went to the manager and asked 'If I can get business insurance for 12months at £28/QUOTE]

Are you sure this business insurance covers you for takeaway deliveries as the majority of regular policies specifically exclude this type of use. Insurance to cover takeaway delivery work is difficult to find and very expensive.

Round my way, they pay the drivers £6.50 p/h + any tips + the driver gets to keep any failed deliveries.

You can sort your phone out yourself, as others have said, there's no reason to be paying 40p a call when there's so many cheap all inclusive packages around.

But other than that, they are taking the mickey! I'd be half tempted to find somewhere else, then spend my final shift doing as much damage to the takeaway's reputation as possible..................deliver pizzas upside down etc so that they're squashed all over the box.

I'm half joking there and it wouldn't be fair on customers...........but losing a load of customers might teach em not to take the mickey like they are doing!

As someone who is paid below NMW when taking expenses into account, no it's not illegal. It's just horrible. Look for a new job, you're required to have a phone on duty - tough. I'm in the same boat.

Sort your phone out though really. I'm paying £10.50 a month (orange panther's £15.50 deal with a discount) for 300 minuets unlimited texts and more data than I use a month.

Yes it is exploitative, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it, short of looking for a better job (which I can assume you already are, I know I am)

Are you sure? I know this is simplistic, but: https://www.gov.uk/understanding-your-pay/deductions-from-your-pay

Trust me, it'll be in his contract.

Also personal property you have to pay out your wages for, extra petrol, phone credit. Remember they can't dismiss you for failing to use your personal property for work, but it'll sure make your job harder.
