in Credit cards
Hello,
I'm currently in the process of applying for a credit card. I'll be using it for two transactions, and two transactions only.. One to pay for a car, in the region of £3500, and one to pay for the insurance.. which should be in the region of £1800. I therefore need a credit card that will give me a limit of £5300. MY credit score is bracketed 'good' or 'safe', and I'm 19 in July. The AMEX blue looks the best for purchases.. however I would need to be able to ascertain that they would offer me a credit limit of c.£6000..
Addditionally, I would intend to pay the balance off within 20-30 months, dependant on how things work out over the next few years. Therefore the card that offers the best fixed rate APR would be the best.. right?
Is this the best route to use..? Or would I be better applying for a long-term loan..?

Firstly before any of your questions I would say are you sure you can pay for your car by Credit Card? you normally need to fight with most dealers as they are not 'keen' on this option!
As to credit limit you can't be sure what limit you get until you've applied.0 -

Thanks for the speedy reply.
No idea as to whether the dealer would accept payment by CC. I'm not sure where I'll be buying the car itself, maybe direct from AutoTrader, possibly from a showroom or dealership.
If I was to buy the car privately.. would AMEX issue a chequebook with the card, as I know is the case with Capital One..?0 -
Be careful with credit card cheques often they occur additional fees (not sure if Amex do though!)0
