Charge for meter change question

I have a query I'm hoping someone will help me with, I am currently on economy 7 with eon, as we had storage heaters(no gas where we live), but our heating has now been replaced with a new system which won't be on at night. The housing assoc have told us to switch tariff, but eon want to charge me £52 to change the meter which has to be paid upfront. If I change supplier do they change the meter? I am very unsure on my options here.

You can also ask that both the day and night rates be combined and charged at one rate. However, not all suppliers allow that. There are some tariffs where the day rate on E7 is cheaper than the normal rate on a non E7 supply such as Socttish Power.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I thought EoN was one of the companies that would add the 2 readings together and charge as a normal tariff.
However if you persuade them to do this then you may have problems in the future if you want to switch supplier and choose one that does not addf them together, in that case you would be forced to go on their E7 tariff.

    Hiya grumblybum,

We will be able to change you to a one rate tariff without changing the meter.

If you give us a ring and ask about the best deal for you, on one rate prices they can go through the quotes with you.

You can say you've had your heating system changed so the night usage will change and go down.

    Helena :)
