* DVLA investigating the garage we bought our car from! *

The DVLA wrote to hubby last week, stating that they are investigating a car business we purchased our Zafira from last year as there is evidence of doctored mileages from the cars they have sold:mad:
To say we are livid is an understatement! I just hope our car is genuine, as this obviously influenced the price!!
Has anyone had any experience of things like this?

I work in a Car Dealership please PM if there are any questions. From my experience the DVLA is a farce so it could be nothing or something big. May not affect the cost of your car.
I hope this helps.I am full of joy, abundance, wealth and love.I am a money magnet. Money comes easily and frequently.Canada excursion fund £1243/2500£10000 from £100 challenge £0/£10,0000 -
I also work in the motor trade and it is quite difficult to alter mileages on newer cars, the best thing to do is have a look through the service book and see what the previous miles were and also the MOT if the car is old enough.
There is also a company called VMC (Vehicle Mileage Check) who check mileage on cars with previous owners to check thats things like this dont happen.
Did they supply you with a HPI on the car at all??0 -
This may sound a bit strange - but are you sure it was DVLA writing to you?
It doesn't sound like them... Trading Standards; yes. I'd have expected DVLA to pass it over to them. And it sounds as if they're pre-judging something; or on a fishing expedition against the garage that sold you the car.
Let us know what happens - but if the "DVLA" ring you asking for details of how you paid for the car or something, smell a large rat!
