Santander Balance Transfer...

I have about £1000 on a Halifax credit card and want to transfer it onto a 0% deal. I've just received some junk mail from Santander (where I have a half-forgotten account) offering me 0% for 17 months (3% balance transfer fee which I guess would work out at £30). I was just wondering whether anyone had any advice.
While it's not the best deal, I don't earn enough to get the best of Martin's 'top balance transfer cards'. I could apply for the other ones (around 20 months) but that would involve a credit check. This Santander one is acceptance guaranteed, subject only to fraud/money-laundering checks, so I would assume there wouldn't be a credit check. In the spring I will need to apply for a card I can use while abroad so don't want to waste any credit checks (!) in the meantime.
My conclusion is that it's not too bad a deal (£10 or so more on the balance transfer fee and a few months less at 0%) for very little hassle. Anything I haven't thought of...? Thanks!
