Vista Business Activation Key problem

Hi there
I've been running a Dell Vostro 1500 with Vista Business (installed) since about 2007.
I've just started having a pop up (bottom right hand corner) telling me that I need to activate Windows. Clicking on it (after running Avast) states that my activation code is invalid and that I need to enter a new one or buy one online.
Any ideas?
Otherwise Windows seems to be running normally.
Thanks!

Oh I should add that it states that the licence key (sticker on laptop) is not valid.0

I had a similar message on my desktop, after re-installing Windows 7 on a new hard disk. It was authenticated and legitimate, but 2-3 months later it popped up that message. Didn't have time to deal with it straight away, but it just disappeared after that. Does it say how long you've got?0

Thanks for that. No it doesn't although on System Properties it says "Activate Today". Has said that for a while though I think.0

Very concerned about the reference to "Invalid Licence". Particularly as I have been using it for 6 years.0 -
The key is fine, so perhaps a problem with the certificate. Otherwise we can just reset activation.0

Great. Thanks. I think I may have just had an email from you? Could you just let me know what the link is for?
Thanks again!0 -
