Halifax Clarity - Do you need to pay into Halifax Reward Account?

Hi there,
I have a Halifax Reward Account and Halifax Clarity Credit Card. The Halifax Clarity pays £5 a month, if I spend £300 a month on it. However, you need a Halifax Reward Account to get the card, which I have, but I was intending to move my current account to First Direct.
Do you have to pay in to the Halifax Reward Account to make sure you're still getting the £5 bonus on the Clarity? I'm intending to leave my Reward Account open, so I can still have my Clarity, just not use it is all.

Answered in your T&Cs. See conditions 11.1 & 11.2
But even if you did need to keep cycling £1K per month, it'll only take a matter of seconds once a month to action FPs there and back.0 -
Where does it state you need the Halifax reward account to get the card?
Doesn't appear mandatory to have the card if I understand correctly just that the reward is not payable without holding a current account ?

... and if you also had a couple of active monthly direct debits on your Reward account then that would earn you another £5 a month. :beer:YorkshireBoy wrote: »... even if you did need to keep cycling £1K per month, it'll only take a matter of seconds once a month to action FPs there and back.

No Halifax account needed to have the Clarity card. I've had one for a couple of years, just using it abroad.0

Yes, sorry, my mistake on needing the account to get the Clarity Card.
It was more about asking if I would still get the £5 bonus each month on the Clarity if I didn't pay anything into my Reward Account.0 -
Are you happy you've got your answer now then? And did Halifax confirm it when you checked with them?missing_string wrote: »It was more about asking if I would still get the £5 bonus each month on the Clarity if I didn't pay anything into my Reward Account.
On the Reward account itself, if you don't have 2 DDs set up by May 1st they may downgrade the account to a standard 'current account' anyway (with 60 days notice) according to http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/pdf/130501-bank-account-changes.pdf.0 -
Yes, I got the answer, thank you YorkshireBoy, read the T&Cs as you suggested.
Bottom line for others who stumble across this post:
You need to pay in £1000 a month to the reward current account to get the £5 a month on the Clarity when you spend £300 a month on it.0
