1899.com - WARNING - 0p/min to Canada/USA has ended

As many of you know, for the past few months 1899.com has been charging 0p per minute for calling USA/Canada, so all you've paid per call is the 3p connection fee. As a true MSE devotee, I've been taking full advantage of this. :-)

However, I noticed last night that the price announcement at the start of each call has changed from "zero p per minute" to "half a p per minute".

I've checked their website and, indeed, the rate has changed.

Just thought I'd warn people, as it's possible to set up a 1899 account so that you DON'T get the cost per minute announcement at the start of each call. Some people may therefore be unaware of the price change.

Having said that, I still can't find any telco provider cheaper than 1/2p per minute for those destinations. (Please pm if you know one cheaper!)

Still........nice while it lasted. :-)

Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

I notice the https://www.call1899.co.uk opening page has a red circle with the words

"Plus LOADS of international destinations at an incredible 0p/min!"

I think only Germany is 0p dialling normally now, so is it a reference to voip?

My biggest mistake ever using 1899 was to ring a mobile phone at 23:30 on a sunday for two hours.

Whoops. The message said 2p/min but obviously the last one and a half hours of the call cost 10p/min and there went all of my 1899 savings lol.

I like 1899 but I guess you could sue them for false advertising lol, as at home you only have the price message to go on.

1899's Voip to the US is still absolutely free.

I have just tried it no connection charge and 0 pence per minute message and I have checked the bill online too.
