just a quick question to ask if anyone that has travelled and worked in either of these countries knows a good and reliable source to use for finding work.

The USA is virtually impossible to work in so seeing as you're asking on here I'm assuming you have no links that would enable you to do this so you can cross that off your list.

Australia your best bet is to look at a working holiday visa if you're under 31.

I don't know why that's surprising - the US is pretty famous for having very restrictive visa conditions!

But no, you can work and travel in the US, it's just very difficult. The normal route would be to work as a slave for Camp America etc. which is pretty much guaranteed, but it's possible to get a visa and look for "normal" jobs if you shell out hundreds of pounds to a company to sponsor you. I'd imagine it would be pretty tough to find work on that sort of visa as well. It may have changed at some point (or I may be thinking of a different visa type) but the employer generally has to try and demonstrate that they couldn't get an American to do the job before they let you take it. It will also involve you travelling to the US embassy in London for interviews etc.

Australia on the other hand is very easy to find work in which is often very well paid (I was on £13 an hour for general cleaning), the job market is far more open to foreigners and you can get instant approval for the visa by filling in a form online. And in my opinion, is a far better country than the US!

Britain is like a prison....it is hard to escape from as you can't get jobs in a country like America and you can't stay in America or USA for very long unless you have a specific job or get headhunted. But Britain is free and open to everyone. So annoying.

It's not much different to Americans coming here.

Britain has nothing to do with the immigration policies of the USA.

So its a prison but its free and open to all, I dunno what the prisons are like around your way but they are seldom free and open.

And despite the hysterical mass media the UK is pretty difficult to legally get work in unless you originate from an EU country of course.

I moved to the US 4 years ago for work. I work for a company that has offices in the UK and US. I was in a management position in the UK so qualified for a L1 visa. This is something that used to be a 2 week process to get.

Mine took 4 months. And that was, as I say, 4 years ago and things have been tightened up since then. The reason it takes so long is my company has to prove that I'm not taking a job that an American could do.

So, it can be done! Just not easily...

I think you'll find there is something like 29 other countries you have the right to live and work in visa free in Europe... And plenty of Brits emigrate to countries like the US, Australia and Canada - if they don't want you, then maybe you should work out where you've gone wrong and fix it!

Though I don't know why I'm bothering explaining this to you, you sound like a typical ignorant Daily Mail reader!
