Letter received no stamp!

Hi everyone

Now being a money saver I was not happy this morning when I recieved a letter without a stamp and had to pay for it - it was only £1.24 but still!!

It was from a local nightclub who have my details on their system. I called them to explain what had happen and to see if they would refund me the money as it was their mistake and the guy said I could "stick it up my ****"!!

I couldnt believe it - so my question is, is there anything I can do? Surely they cant treat people this way and get away with it?

Any help gratefully recieved!

Yeah, go to Wickes and buy a bag of quick setting post cement, take a couple of handfulls in a bag next time you go, and just drop it down one of their toilets:beer: Only joking of course :p
Same thing happened to me with a xmas card

Dont use the club if they treats it customers with such contempt. Unfortunately its not RM fault but the sender. You have a choice whether to pay the access and receive the letter or not.

Only other thing is take it back up with the club and complain if its member of staff and report them for being abusive and what if any as a gesture of good will will they do about it, any decent club should give you a free pass into club next time if its worth its salt.

Send the club a very heavy jiffy bag without a stamp on it. It'll cost them a fortune :)

Our unstamped letter wasn't even delivered. Send the £1.42 cost to the post office first, and then we'll deliver it..!! Didn't mention who it was for nor whom it was from.

Or make a journey to the sorting office and pay cash there. I understand the PO employ someone to sit there all night long looking for unstamped letters and sending out demands for postage...plus everyone's favourite, the £1 admin fee. The world doesn't get any better and the post office, or what ever they call themselves thesedays, are not making life any nicer.

When I was last moving house more than a few letters came from estate agents with inadequate postage/no postage. Fortunately the nice man in our village PO kept them all to one side and asked me if I wanted them - I said no - presumably they get sent back? Or binned?
  • Unstamped mail will be retuned to the sender if the addressee doesn't pay the fee to receive it. If it has no sender's address it probably goes to a dead-letter warehouse somewhere.

True, but in most cases the recipient does not know who it's from until they've paid.
I would write a polite but strongly worded letter to the club manager explaining what had happened. They might send out a voucher of some sort (hopefully with a stamp on the envelope!) by way of apology, and should also have a word with their staff about customer service, making it clear that a basic level of courtesy is expected.

I would contact the local newspaper - they could well be interested and print something, and you would be sure of an apology or else putting other people off going there.

I dont think the OP will get anywhere with the club tbh, my advice would be return the compliment using all your junk mail (nothing identifiable)in a large brown envelope and think nothing more of it.

Had card left by postie for exact same thing 2 day's ago, £1.24 including the £1.00 handling fee.
Read card, in 3 week's it will be returned to sender (if poss) who can then apply correct postage and resend if it is that important.
I may never know what it was but it will not affect my sleep pattern at all :-D
